The Reverend Ted Platt, Minister

tplatt@stpaulspawtucket.org

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Ted went to college at Northern Arizona University to study music education and performance. After teaching band and chorus for several years in Arizona public schools, he attended the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree. Upon his ordination in 1992, he moved to New England to serve as a parish pastor then as an ecumenical chaplain which allowed him to continue his work as a music director and organist. For the past five years, he has been on the staff of St. Paul’s as music director and pastoral associate and now serves as the minister of the parish.

Ted continues to be involved in ecumenical activities with the Rhode Island State Council of Churches in issues of peace and justice. He practices a rich prayer life in the traditions of St. Benedict and as a vowed member in the Order of St. Luke. He continues to pursue his calling as a musician, performing as parish organist and as the bass trombonist with the Warwick Symphony Orchestra. Ted enjoys living in New England, studying its history, and traveling through its landscapes. He also takes pleasure in working with his hands on the historic house in which he lives.

In serving as the minister at St. Paul’s, Pastor Ted is building upon the rich history of the parish to create a warm and welcoming community “where God and people meet.”
